Food Friday: Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice Soup

I finally tried a new recipe!!! Nick hasn't been feeling well this week and since the humidity finally dropped some, I decided that soup was in order! I found this on the Tasty Kitchen blog. We loved it and it is super easy to make.

Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice Soup

5 cups water
1 box (4.2 oz) Rice-A-Roni Long Grain & Wild Rice Mix
1 envelope (1 oz packet) Lipton's Chicken Noodle Soup Mix
1 cup Shredded or Chopped Cooked Chicken Breast (I just used one large can of chicken)
1 can (10.75 oz) Cream of Chicken Soup
1/4 cups diced Onion (optional)
1/2 cups diced Celery (optional)
1/2 cups diced Carrot (optional)

(I did not use any of the optional veggies this time)

Bring water to a boil. Add dry rice and soup mix and boil for 10 minutes. (I would add your veggies here too so they have a chance to soften) Add chicken breast and cream of chicken soup. Boil for 10 more minutes and season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

Notes: this is a great recipe if you want to rotate your canned chicken. Also, if you have a smaller family, feel free to double this recipe and freeze for leftovers later. It freezes really well!

Things I Like Thursday

Oh my, once again what a bad blogger I have been! It is almost the end of August and this is what, my third post for the month?! Oh well!

What a busy month it has been! I won't bore you with all of the details though! Tonight I am headed to Susie's house to do some stamping! Friday afternoon I will be headed to Chariton for a funeral. My brother's best friend's father (did you follow that?) passed away on Sunday. Very sad deal! Saturday Nick and I will be headed back down to Chariton for a wedding!! I love wedding so that will be fun! So maybe I will be back Sunday with something fun!

Anyhow, on to the task at hand. I have A LOT of awesome things to show you this week! All of these ideas came from a new blog I found today called One Pretty Thing. This blog rocks!!! It is basically a huge collection of great ideas found online. So they have different "roundups" of ideas from all over the internet. Pretty much an entire blog with the same concept as my Things I Like Thursday posts. It is truly a beautiful thing. So I will show you some of the awesome things that I have found today. I will link back to the original blog or website where the idea came from to give credit where credit is due of course!

A Pretty Poppies tutorial from Twelve Crafts Til Christmas.

A Sweet Baby Quilt Tutorial from Mama Stellato.

Fabric Rag Ball Ornament from Under the Table and Dreaming.

Small Gift Bag from eWillow.
(Sorry, I can't get a picture of it!)

Fancy Burp Cloth Tutorial from Bobaloo. (And no, I am not pregnant, so don't get your hopes up with these baby ideas! :)

An End of Summer Wristlet from Flamingo Toes.

Quilting Made Simple by Diary of a Quilter guest posting on Ucreate.

One Hour Bag Pattern from Skip to my Lou.

Well I hope you enjoy these projects!! One of these days I hope to be back with one of my own projects! I have not been very productive in that department lately!

Things I Like Thursday

Today's post is going to be a little bit different. I have been obsessed this week with looking into organization ideas for my craft room so I thought I would share just a few of the ideas that I have found. Some great places to look for organization inspiration are: other blogs, Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart, and I am sure of course, Google, would provide you with tons of ideas!

This is a great idea for storing ribbon! Easily accessible, yet tucked away nicely. I found this at MacKenzie's Crafty Mom.

I love the idea of using a spice rack for organizing small embellishments and such. Here is a beautiful one that I found at Frugal with a Flourish.

Another fun way to organize your ribbon from The Idea Room.

Here's a great way to organize all of your scrapbooking scraps! This idea comes from Sister's Stuff.

Here is yet another great idea for storing your ribbon. This one comes from Better Homes & Gardens. I love the idea of using jars to store all of the scraps as well!

This is an easy and inexpensive idea for storing those tools that you would like to have right on hand. Also from Better Homes & Gardens.

I think this will be my last idea for storing ribbon! This is from Better Homes and Gardens as well!

Things I Like Thursday

Since I have been such a bad blogger for the last couple weeks, I feel like I need to make it up to you! I have, what I think anyway, are some GREAT projects here for this weeks things I like Thursday post!

Today is a pretty exciting day! Last week I placed a Stampin' Up! order for SEVERAL items that I am totally in love with. I'm talking like 10 stamp sets. You see if I ordered before August 24th, I got 30% off of my order! Do you think I am going to pass that up?! Heck no! So since I do not plan on being a demonstrator long term, I thought, why not use that discount, get a stamp set for each event that I might want one for, and call it good! So that is what I did. And these goodies should show up on my doorstep today! I.CAN'T.WAIT! Of course, I can't use these tonight, but there is a happy reason for that too, it is Susie's monthly Stampin' Up party at her house, so I will be making 6 beautiful cards there! Pretty darn exciting I think! Anyhow, on with the show!

Check out this Safety Pin Cuff Bracelet at Obstinate Pursuit. The things people make continue to amaze me!

I have never painted clothes, but she makes it look pretty easy! Check out this painted Paisley Tee at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.

A super cute idea in my opinion. I think I may just try this on my newly painted craft room wall (which I will share pictures of someday soon!) Clothesline Organization Station at Freckled Laundry.

Cool Dollar Store Wall Art at Frugal Life Project. Cheap and cute, my kinda project!

Make your own envelopes! Here is a template from www.jessicajonesdesign.com. I am definitely going to try this! Sometimes I make a card without really thinking about if I have an envelope that it will fit in or not, this would easily solve that problem!

Fun ideas using crepe paper from Frugal Life Project! Love all three of these ideas!

Great, frugal ideas for making your own dryer sheets from Frugal Life Project!

Pretty great ideas, huh? Well I will probably not be back tomorrow with a food friday post as I will be in Des Moines all day (and gone tonight, so I can't cheat and write it tonight) and Saturday is Summer Splash so we will be boating all day!! Sunday I hope to be back to show you the cards that I am making tonight! Have a great weekend!
